Re: Should I wait for the GTX 800 series?

If you have enough money for two GPUs I would go with two reference 780 Tis. The non-ref coolers are not really suited for going SLI.

K is short for kilo; kilo means thousand. So basically 6K means 6000.
    Cheers,
    Robert

Tow 780 Tis is just too much... I think I'm gonna go with the EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC w/ ACX... we'll see when the next series comes out...

So what you're saying is that you've a 6Kbps internet.

A bit OT but I think that means about 5.85mbps (megabits/sec) or around 0.725 MBps (Megabyte/sec) if I got my sums right.

6K means 6000 kbit/s so basically my internet is really really bad.
I then asked why he didn't put 6Mbps but he replied with the post above, so I'm intrigued...

I think what he has done is put a marketing spin on really bad to make it look better and you have to admit that 6000mbps looks more impressive than 0.725MBps.

Re: Should I wait for the GTX 800 series?

Typically the speed of an internet connection is measured in bits (b minus) like 10Mbps (10Mbits/s), only the speed of the download is measured in bytes (capital B), in this case downloads of 1.25MBps or 1250kBps, since 1 byte equals 8 bits.

Obviously an internet speed of 6kbps is impossible, he probably has an internet speed of 6Mbps with downloads of 750kBps.

Wow... so this thread is now totally off track like a crashed train that's been derailed spreading words all of over the track, or are we just filling in time until the 800 series cards are launched?

Ahh so that's what OT mean, yeah a bit of a detour there sorry... although I really liked your analogy....
Yeah I think this thread is pretty much solved... apart from the 6K internet...
