ATi were for a long time chasing after Nvidia, and after alot of R&D they managed to release a graphics card that Nvidia themselves would have been proud of.
This is in no way the end for Nvidia they are still arguably the best graphics card manufacturer. Despite how much you may hate ATi or Nvidia it is because of their fierce competition than we have seen the birth of such graphics cards as the R9800pro and the 5900U.
The 5900 is an excellent card, the Radeon may be superior to it in this game/test/wateva but that doesnt mean the game is over. Nvidia still have a superb card to work with. as for optimisations (cheating) whats wrong with altering the code if it will help the game run better?! It improves the users experience at a minimal price and makes it more difficult for the competition to make an impact......this is both good customer awareness, good marketing and excellent development if you ask me.
I am an ATi fan, always have been but that doesnt make them a better company than Nvidia.
Ati have the lead here for the moment but Nvidia wont take this sitting down. Its an opportunity for them to prove their worth. and with their Nforce chipsets taking a dominant stand in the motherboard market, only better is to come from both Nvidia and ATi.

Half Life 2 to be shipped with new ATi card.

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=11406

IF YOU need a a high end card and really want to get Half Life 2 you might want to consider what's happening soon.
ATI and its partners have won an exclusive deal to ship the game with every Radeon 9800XT high end R360 card, scheduled to be introduced later this month.

For enthusiasts this is enticing, because for the same price they will get faster hardware and the game, if they want the game, for the same price.

Doom 3 is not very close to its release date, so it could be Nvidia might bundle Unreal Tournament 2004 for its upcoming NV38.

For consumers, this is of course very good news. You get to pay your money and take your choice

-Bitboys should get their act together, been ages since we've heard news from them. 12mb Dram
