    KOTOR Update...

I checked with the driver team

This software is part of our QA suit - so it definitely works !

However, some pieces of software are very big/involved...

...and there is always the possibility that a certain combination of factors in one isolated part of a game can create an issue

We are trying to recreate the issue in exactly the same place

Hoping to have a specific answer at the start of next week

Bear in mind that because KOTOR is something that we test on - the issue raised in the links posted earlier will have been sorted in 4.11 - and every driver since

i.e. that fix is still in there - and we have not had reports in to say that this is an issue with 5.1

We are checking to see if anything else could cause a similar issue...

...but we are having trouble getting the problem to manifest itself

Okay, okay! But where is the temperature monitoring and Overdrive feature in 5.2?

No yet. Will do when I get my system fixed again! I did notice a slider that ranges from 'Performance' to 'Quality' settings. Perhaps this is the equivalent of the Overdrive feature. But I cannot find any temperature readings.

    Mr. Andrzej,

Thanks again for your response to my Janes F/A-18 post. You've helped me have a better understanding about what the ATI proggies go through and how difficult it is to address past games.

Thanks again for your input and responses on this board. It is encouraging to see that ATI cares about their end users as I said earlier.

Found it. 5.2 Control Centre defaults to Basic (Standard) view so you only see a slider for performance. Switched to advanced you to get full options and Overdrive is in the 3D settings.

If the game is that good (you guys seem to love it) then I'd hope it makes commercial sense for the developer to release a new version - which I am sure would fly on Cat 5.2

..the other guys care a lot as well - don't let anyone tell you otherwise

The difference is that I have been in this industry for a couple of decades - and I know just how good it is to have a 'direct plug in' to a company through forums

I don't have unlimited bandwidth - but Hexus is a massive site so it makes sense to try and reply to 3D-related threads here

I am sure that when the other guys realise what a nice bunch you are - they will poke their heads in to see how (armed with their signs), they can help too !

I think 4.11 and 5.1 worked the other way!

I installed the 5.2s last night and am getting decent performance in HL2 at 1024x768 and 4xAA/4xAF. I might try and get some numbers next week, but will add more subjective comments tomorrow (probably).

Taz- i downloaded 5.2 last night and like you couldnt find the temp/overdrive settings, so downloaded again from the link (first post in this thread) and it was there.
dont think the cat control centre was included within my first download ??????????
as for HL2, dont know if its me, but it seems to run much better, after playing for a while and quitting, my desktop would be temporarily all over the place and HD would be doing overtime while it cleared, now it shuts down almost straight away.
