    Catalyst 5.2

As Buff pointed out - the latest version went live last night

We have been working on updates for :-
    - Windows XP/2K
    - Windows 9x drivers
    - Windows XP 64 bit edition beta drivers
    - PLUS our HDTV Wonder drivers

There will be another Linux update along shortly

    The 'biggies' this month include:-
    - Giving the user instant access to their 3D settings (AA/AF etc) from the CATALYST CONTROL CENTER icon in the system tray
    - Improvements to the way that vertex processing is handled which has led to (best case) a gain of up to 20% in certain FarCry environments like 'Volcano'
    - There has also been a lot of work on bug-fixes and these are detailed in the release notes

CATALYST CONTROL CENTRE for XP and 2000 can be downloaded from hereā€¦ http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-...1c-english.exe

For other versions - go to www.ati.com and then choose 'DRIVERS' from the menu at the top

CATALYST has come a long way in the past 2 years - and a lot of that improvement has been down to dialogue with the users (i.e. you !)

Please be aware that if you post any (sensible !) suggestions for improvements to CATAYST on this official HEXUS thread - then we will definitely make sure that they are considered by the driver team

No promises on inclusion - but we will definitely listen

UPDATE: Can you please let me know exactly what this OS is - and where I can get more info on it before I raise the question with team

I wonder if this will stop the lag problems I get for the first few minutes in any game. (Graphics lag not network lag) Only happened with 5.1

I have not heard of that before - checked with the team and it does not seem to be a known problem

Install 5.2 and see if it still seems to be present

If it does - post back with some details on how to replicate it at our end (set up - hardware etc)

How about a fix for the 5.3's that was introduced in version 4.11 in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, details in the following links:

This thread describes the problem the best:

Hope it fixes the FS2004 problems I had with 5.1 (I had to use 4.12). I'll know at the weekend.

I have a question on updating Catalyst drivers: do you have to uninstall the previous version first or can you do an 'over-the-top' install?

its best if its clean.. so files dont get mixed..run driver cleaner

Havent tryed these and prob wont for a while.. (wshen my 9500np turns to a x850XTPE in the next week or so )

However I would now say that the official drivers are better than the omega 3rd party ones, which I used to use. The officials dont have a few bugs which annoy me from the omegas...

Can you try one of 2 things:-

    1) Uninstall 5.1 completely - reboot - install 5.2 - reboot - try it

    or

    2) Let me know exactly how to create the issue you are reporting

    Any info appreciated

Will do. I'm away from home at the moment so will try 5.2 at the weekend. I ditched 5.1 after a couple of unsuccessful tries and have been running 4.12 without any problems since. Hence, i'm not that concerned at the moment.

I'm also going to be looking at some of the mobo settings (hence some of my other posts) as I want to be able to manually lock everything down (frequencies and voltages) to pure stock levels so that the motherboard doesn't decide to change anything by itself. Once i've done that and have had settings verified by CPU-Z i'll run 3DMark05, PCMark04 and FS2004 a few times each to ensure things are still stable.

I'll then uninstall Catalyst 4.12, reboot and stick in 5.2, reboot and retest (with everything still at stock settings) and report back here. Hopefully, things will be fine with 5.2

    Hey mate

SCO Xvision is a visual program that allows you to see aerodynamic flow with use with CFD colving programs. Basically, when I updated my Cat drivers SCO XVision would not allow me to start visual analysis at all, when I changed back it was fine. Contacted SCO about it but they didnt seem to know about the problem?

Hope a guru like you could help me!

    Chris

1: Me no guru - trust me !

2: Not sure if resolving your issue will be a simple thing to do

What OS are you running on ?

Can you also let me know what the 'underlying' OS is if the one you are using is a 'build' or 'variant'

Which Cat driver are you expecting to run (i.e. Linux, XP, 64 etc)

It might also be worth checking with the software vendor to see what changes (if any) could have happened to make ths package encounter an issue

A little OT, but hats off to Andrzej for continually helping out the HEXUS.community with ATi issues.

I've yet to try the cat 5.2's, but I'll tweak the inis and get them on my laptop in the next couple of days.
    PHP Code:

    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
