Exclamation Getting worse perfmance with my 6600gt than my old 9800 pro!

Ok, so here is the story. My 9800 pro broke recently and I managed to get a refund, so i though might as well get a 6600gt for £5 more. I get it only to find my motherboard needs to be replace. So I get another one and all works ok but performance isn't as good as my 9800 pro. In the games I have tried half-life2, counterstrike source, sid meirs pirates, peromance has been worse than my 9800 pro. In the stress test I get 63 fps instead of the 69 i got with my 9800 pro. In half-life 2 and pirates I get slow downs where I never used to. I have tries 66.93, 67.03, 71.80 or something like that and they are all the same. Is there anything I can really do? Thanks,John.

did u remove the nvidia drivers properly?

if u changed from ati to nvidia, best thing to do would be to do a complete format

somethings not right, best thing would be to do a fresh install of windows. when i upgraded from ti4200 to 9800xt, i was getting lower performance with the 9800xt, even though i removed the drivers using driver cleaner. i did a fresh install of windows and was blown away how much difference it made.

I had similar problems going from ati to nvidia, what I did was uninstall gfx and motherboard drivers, ran driver clean in safe mode, to get rid of any reminants left of the drivers.... even ran it for the ati drivers just in case, then re-installed motherboard driver, then gfx drivers and all is well, give that a try.

maube he's still reinstalling? ran into problems ...? its not unheard of with windows installations ...

i had similar problems recently whilst playing UT2004, was ok one week then utter-Slideshow the next. took drivers off, cleaned up registry, reinstalled drivers and 3D mark grew by about 150pts. it was on 3D2003, got 7650-ish, then after clean up got 7800! 150pts for free! and I think it was satisfactorially transfered to the game playing too
    think thats a decnt enough score for a 6600gt on a amd64 3000 winny the poo (939, 90nm) and a gig of sheep (ram ) .

    Exclamation Sorry for the delay

Hi, sorry for the delay I was frustrated and forgot to post. I re-installed and still got about 1300 in 3d mark 05 with my gigabyte SiS motherboard. SO I rooted around and found there to be a known prob with SiS chipsets and nvidia cards especially the 6600gt. So i then sent the motherboard back and got it replaced only to find the same problems. Some drivers had artifacting and the bug fixing drivers had really bad performance, worse than my 9800pro. So i got the board refunded,(WELL DONE E-BUYER ) and took your guys advice and got an NF7 v2. Suddenly my cs:s frame rates were at 100fps instead of 60 with the SiS and my 3dmark 05 score was 3100 rather than 1300. This was all at stock, I'm really chuffed and the board overclocks well unfortunately I'm restricted to 2.11ghz because of my pc2700 RAM. So there you have it, my computer story. The end.
