    New bits...

I was going to go for an XFX 6800gt but the rest of my system would hold it back so i was thinking of renewing the mobo, ram, graphics card and processor:

    Asus A8N-SLI Dlux Motherboard + Asus 128MB 6600GT VGA Card £233
    1 Gb (2 x 512 Mb) Corsair TwinX-XL, DDR, PC3200XLPT, Cas 2 £132
    AMD Athlon 64 3000 32/64Bit CPU S939 "Venice" 90nm Retail £100

    Total £397.05
    Carriage £7.00
    V.A.T. £70.71
    ---------------
    TOTAL £474.76
    ---------------
    From scan.co.uk

Would that let me play battlfield 2 on reasonably high settings?
Would anyone change any of these bits, my budget will only stretch to £500, any ideas? Cheers

I've got a gereric 350W PSU, is that going to cope?
What's a good PSU to get that won't break the bank?

ive been looking at the tagans myself, at scan i think you can get a 420w taga u22 which has atx 2.0 and sli connectors etc for the s939 board for around £50 - £60.

havent really looked at any of the cheaper psu's as ive always bought cheap ones in the past, and theyve always dissapointed.

Tagan 480W would be my recommendation for future proofing - just make sure you get the V2.0 with both 24 and 20 pin (pretty standard these days) and with the PCI-E connector. If you're worried about SLI, then there are some with 2 x PCI-E connectors.

It would be good to get that first, but it is another £70. Your 350W might hold out, it might not. With generics you just don't know. Problem is if it causes damage...
