Its more of a covenience rather than anything else. You don't really need an fx-57 or x2 to play the best games but it doesn't stop people does it
Yes

Believe it or not, I clicked "yes" by accident, was partially day-dreamin, I actually have a single monitor setup as of this moment, to be honest I'll probs stay single screened for my forseeable computer career as although I do a lot of desktop work like net surfing, using photoshop and premiere, games are the obvious and primary use of my PC.
But since a large portion of games ( pretty much all of them ) simply don't support multi-monitor setups i don't see the point tbh.
You don't really need two monitors although there is nothing like having that kind of space to play with. I have two 20' Dell WS' and would never go back to one.
Not neccessary, but it's nice to be able to look at your email etc. without switching windows.Originally Posted by Smokey21
oh come on. A X2 or w/e is actually useful. Another monitor is just well a waste of time. You only need one cause you people are lazy.Originally Posted by Dark Horse
Being able to display more is useful. How is it lazy to want more information on screen? Would you rather have a 14" monitor or a 21" monitor?
But the 2 aren't related. What can 2 monitors do that 1 can't?Originally Posted by Butcher

2x 20.1" LCD monitors at work, 2x 20.1" LCD monitors at home.
For work I have open our call logging system, Outlook 2003, Office Communicator and MSN Messenger 100% of the time.
A browser window (or 5), Notepad, Visual Studio, Network Monitor and Ethereal are opened frequently.
2x 1600x1200 resolution screens are essential to avoid stacking too many windows and become a nightmare to navigate through - very handy to have 2 simultaneous network traces side-by-side to compare.
At home I permanently have a browser window on 1 screen, with Outlook 2003 and MSN Messenger on the secondary - when I play games I can run them maximized on the primary screen and leave my communication tools up.
Streaming video fullscreen on one monitor while working in the other is also convenient.
~ I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. ~
PC: Win10 x64 | Asus Maximus VIII | Core i7-6700K | 16GB DDR3 | 2x250GB SSD | 500GB SSD | 2TB SATA-300 | GeForce GTX1080
Camera: Canon 60D | Sigma 10-20/4.0-5.6 | Canon 100/2.8 | Tamron 18-270/3.5-6.3
I have one 17" CRT, but would love to have 2 x 20" TFT's. Lack of cash though.
I only have one, but it's nice so I like it!.. Although if I suddenly had loads of cash (which I don't!), then I would most probably buy a second, as they're awesome!.. Definately one of those things which once tried you won't look back.
The felxability of having two contained desktop spaces is very helpful, espechaly if your a lazy fellow like myslef. I dont use my second monitor much, becuase its crap, but its good for stickig Win media player on or power dvd and keep doing work. Its good for when you have to do reseach work as well, speadsheet on one monitor webpage on the other.
Just use a spare CRT, I've got my lappy 15.1" + a 17" CRT
Lappy runs 1024 by 768 and CRT 1280 by 1024
Have various add-on progs to have a seperate starbar and snap stuff to areas, but it is great
Just have my 17' CRT Sony Trinitron ... the picture quality is still very good so i'm staying on that until TFT's are on par with it.
I've two monitors - running across 2 systems, using synergy to get the best out of them
