Yeah it CAN be but mostly when I use FRAPS its accurate. I have the full version that gets all the updates so its pretty good. For example it gets the same FPS as the counter in the CSS consoleOriginally Posted by vincent

I think there's a setting which you turn off to get better output, Soft Shadows?

No specifics...
...but, generally speaking, if a company spends a fortune on a new game - then they will have 'early access' to the code
As a result, it can be the case that their competitors need to wait until much later on - when a 'gold' version is released before they can really let their driver teams lose on it
There are a few notable exceptions (FarCry comes to mind) where the team paying the sponsoring bucks don't actually end up being quicker...
...but it could be the case with F.E.A.R. that the performance with ATI cards will improve a lot just after the finla code is released
The most famous 'real world' example of this I can remember is when the Scottish football team, Rangers, repainted the lines around the outside of their pitch to make it as narrow as possible when they were going to play a European fixture against a team with great wingers. Not illegal - but certainly stretching 'smart' to the extreme
In our environment, this kind of thinking can mean that (in some cases) game developers will use values that they look up - instead of calculating 'perfect values' when requested - because the 'paying team' do look-ups quicker than calculations. Again, nothing wrong with this, but you need to understand who is paying the fiddler when the 'dance competition' begins if you really want a 'clear view' of the world

The only funny thing about TWIMTBP is the initial screens. Just a little video, but I wouldn't mind seeing a little one for ATi!

thats it, an x800xt owns a 6800gt (dont argue) there must be some mistake

I'd guess CPU limited, my system (3800+, PCIe X800 XL w/3DMark05 of 5063) was fine on 5.6 cats, didn't look at the fps though, I didn't need to as it was smooth.Originally Posted by chazt
