poor quality on dell 2001 through composite

It's quite possible that i am missing something but when i run a console such as teh pst or gamecube through the composite in on this monitor the picture quality is pretty poor. You can see the distinct interlacing lines and you can't make out any details. Is there something that you need to do and i am missing or is there no way to get around this?

I think that's just the nature of composite signals - they're not very hifi. Can you post a picture of how it looks? I've always wondered how a gamecube would look on these.
