I'm one of those who dont see it - then again my previous monitor was a 16ms 17" panel and the 2405fpw is also 16ms, sure it's not the fastest panel response but unless all you ever do is games it's still a great screen.Originally Posted by BlueMagician
Contrast, brightness and colour strength are all fantastic, lots of connectors, USB and memory card reader built in are handy and the internal scaling as someone else pointed out is about the best I've seen on any TFT.
I've been absolutely glued to "X3: The Reunion" since getting this, flying about space in 1920x1200 is amazing!

I hope this is relevant to this thread as I don't want to hijack anyones post.
I am not a gamer at all so my Graphics card, an ATI Radeon 9250 was fine for my needs.
However, I bought a Dell 2405FPW after reading good things on this board.
It will display 1900x1200 without problem , remember I don't game, but I am having a bit of bother with running it in 1280x768 resolution which I find most suitable for reading text and gives a nicely proportioned display. Often I get the message "Can't display this mode" but after a reboot (sometimes two) it displays perfectly and doesn't go wrong until another boot up but even then not ALL the time. I have obtained and installed the latest drivers for both the card and monitor. Any other suggestions apart from, "buy another graphics card", would be most welcomed.
Thanks

Seems the problem was the DVI->D-sub converter. When plugging it into a native D-sub connection, it worked first time and never got the error once.
Are you using a converter by any chance ?
If so, is it fully pinned, or is there some missing ? (just trying to trouble shoot)
I was looking at 23/24 screens; including the Sony P234, Samsung 242MP, Dell 2405, and Apple Cinema 23.
My conclusion was that the Apple's just do nothing apart from look good, the Sony is far too big and heavy, so left with the Dell or Samsung.
The pro for the dell is that it costs less than half the price -- £550ish to £1300ish. So right taking into account the quality of make, the problems of the high pitched noise (which to the best i could find is exsessively annoying and has not stopped at all), and of course it's Dell which some feel very negatively about......
So yeah, at the end of my exploration, Samsung wins, Sony 2nd, Dell 3rd and Apple 4th. I advise looking at them in more depth before choosing. I considered the additional expense of the Samsung's worthwhile you may not agree however.
