19"/20" Widescreen TFT info requested.

Does anyone here know:
If TFT prices are heading downwards in the near (<3 months) future?
any recommended 19"/20" Widescreen Flatpanels?
It will be used for watching DVD's and playing games. Maybe even the odd bit of work
I want at worst an 8ms response and a good viewing angle (TBH dont know what figs represent good)
brightness must be 300 CD/M^2 although I dont know how high the contrast ratio needs to be to be good.
Is £300 inc VAT too little to expect to pay for a 20" whatever x 1050 widescreen flatpanel?

They certainly seem to be heading downwards !

Ones to look at that are around £300:

Viewsonic VA1912W & 2012
Acer AL1916W & 2016W

£300 will get you the 2016W Acer and it seems to be quite a well regarded screen but if I remember rightly it doesn't have dvi. The Viewsonic 20" can be had for just over £300 and does have a dvi input.

If you want to spend between £300-£400 you'll get a bit more choice

If you can predict future prices of TFT panels, you should work as an analsyst in an investment bank

I reckon prices will remain static. The low end stuff is as cheap as chips anyway so any reductions are likely to cut significantly into margins. The high end will probabably remain high for the next 3 months are manufacturers are bringing the generation of panels with latest tech eg. S-IPS 6ms, PMVA 8ms, overdrive etc, all of which will combine to maintain drives. After that I suspect prices of high end panels will drop slightly due to the increased competition.

Anyone with info as to when these new displays are to emerge as I am looking for a TFT but unsure of 4:3 or widescreen?
