19" or 20" or 22"? Help me pick :)

Well ill be buying my new hardware + case ect soon, and im stuck on the monitor. Ive been thinking of spending around £150 for a monitor and have come up with a few:
a 19" widescreen Hyundai ImageQuest N91W (£150ish)
a 20.1" widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 205BW (£200ish)
or a 22" Belinea 2225S1W (£220) (no dvi but, is it worth getting an adaptor ?)

So i wondering is there a huge difference between 19" and 20.1"
or is it worth getting the 22" and a vga>dvi adaptor?

Need your help on this guys so thanks in advance.

i'd go for the Samsung

synvmasters generally get good reviews, and DVI is worth it i reckon (especially a HDCP one for HD-ness)

The resolution on the 19" widescreens is a bit low so id stick to the larger ones.

Incidentally the resolution is probably the same on the 20 and 22" monitors so really i think its up to you to go for size or quality.

If you only ever watch video from a distance then the 22" is good however for imaging and working the 20" is probably better and more versitile.

Of those three, Samsung - no question, but I think you should also look at the LG L204WT which can be had for £220.

Hey thanks for reply's- I will be using it for gaming, some light photoshop work and also coding.
I thought that a bigger better resolution monitor would benefit all the above?

Yup they will do - I was really checking if you needed anything special like high colour-range. But if your photo-shop work is light you've got no problems

Ok so what do you think is better, the Samsung Syncmaster (1680 x 1050) (£199)
or the LG L204WT (1680 x 1050)(£225)
Any opinions on the quality of either would be much appreciated.

Like I said in my earlier post ....I think you should also look at the LG L204WT which can be had for £220...

......because I think it is the probably the best you can get at that price point, unless you want to move up to £300

Be careful with widescreen monitors if you are not looking for widescreen. A 20" widescreen won't be as tall as a 19" normal monitor. And game support for widescrren resolutions is still quite poor.

As for DVI to VGA, a decent vga beats a poor DVI. I would look for DVI on any new monitor now, but by itself it is no benefit. My 19" with only vga-in has better colours than a friends 19" DVI.

Don't bother with a 19", you're only getting 1280x1024 out of them. I'd go for a 20"+

I've bought a few of the Hyundai's and can recommend them. But it all depends on how much your willing to pay.

For £200 the Samsung is the one worth going for.

Have you considered the 22" Asus MW221U monitor that scan have in stock. Its got DVI, with HDCP support and has a 2ms response rate. All for £277, if you stretch your budget a little further it'd be worth it.

Sounds like a top deal to me....
