Weird one this, just checked in the driver control panel and it would seem my card isnt running as fast as it should be?
For the GPU I have Requested speed 648MHz, current speed 506MHz, for the memory I have Requested speed 999MHz, Current speed 594MHz.
I have confirmed this with powerstrip, now the odd thing is even at these speeds it gets to 84 degrees under load and the fan kicks in full speed?, is it really running to slow or is it a driver bug?

You're seeing 2d speeds. When you go to a full screen 3d app it'll rise to requested speeds.

riva tuner has an app that monitors temps and clock speeds, launch that and go in game, it will soon show you whats really going off

Cheers ill check that, second question, im assuming that when its running the folding GPU client it will use the 3d speeds? im assuming this as it gets to 84 degrees when folding?

I would guess so, but can't say for sure. 84 degrees certainly suggests it's going full speed.

I have just fired up hl2 in a window so I could monitor the clock speeds and they never changed when I went into the game?

sorry but you launch rivatuners monitoring app, play the game, exit the game, and whats still there, rivatuner with a chart of whats been going off while your in full screen mode.

Sorted cheers, seems that running a game in a window will only run at 2d speeds, is there a way to get the card to run at 3d speeds when in 2d mode?, i.e for the GPU folding client?
