Display Garbled...

Hey Guys,

I recently (well saturday) got a new cpu (x2 3800+) to replace my single core 3700+.

Now, whenever I do anything 3d-related the screen goes completely screwed up, until i alt-tab then it goes alright again...

This happens in fear/bf2/colin mcrae 2005... but 3dmark2006 is fine.

Its really odd tho, cos it only happens in the menu/loading screen for battlefield - once in the game, everything is fine.

in colin mcrae it only happens at the beginning of the race

in fear it only happens randomly - i did about 8 loops of the 'benchmark' thing and it didnt happen once


i've tried reinstalling chipset/graphicscard + all the various amd drivers, but i am at my wits end..

any ideas?

Could be overheating, maybe you knocked your gfx card slightly out if it's slot when installing your new CPU or maybe the CPU is overheating/not seated properly. Check temps with a progeram like PC Wizard.

gpu temps seem fine, 3d is fine, and alt-tabbing temporarily fixes it... i dont get any corruption once im in a '3d' type environment



everything seems fine in vista, so it must be something gay in xp

I've already got that installed I think a wipe/reinstall is in order.. I've only been running this rig for a week or so, so no big deal

well a reinstall of windows fixed it
