Thread: reformatt new hdd!

    reformatt new hdd!

    Hello all trying to reformat new hdds. When the windows xp installtion says "press enter to setup windows xp" after the lience aggreeement upon pressing F8.

    It comes up with blue screen of death.

    Saying there is a problem caused by the following file: setupdd.sys AND

    PAGE_FAULT_OM_NONPAGED_AREA

    any thought on this one?

    omg now my hdd is not getting picked up in setup but is in bios!

    Definately broke.

    Edit: Let me explain my sarcastic comments. Now, not being funny or anything but if you can't be bothered to post in the correct section or to even type the correct error message, why would people go out of their way to help you?

    Did the bios see it at all ever?

    have you plugged the power cable AND the data cable in properly?

    run memtest

    non paged faults at hardware level are normally either RAM or the HD

    I'd say either the RAM or the CPU if it's crashing at such an early stage of the XP install.

    Check all the connections for the drive and on the ports on the board.

    If you have more than one stick of ram in, then try taking one out and try again - if it is still the same try with only the other stick in.

    Your system isn't overclocked is it?

    yes ive done the basic things check all connections. Taken 1 stikck of ram out and still didnt work.

    What happens if you put the old HD back in and try to install on that ?

    Are you trying to install on a RAID array ?

    The following two MS articles suggest some sort of hardware incompatibility (eg. RAM, PCI card, HD etc.)

    mobo should be comming 2moz. Yes tried 6 diffrent hdds,! none working to be honist the mobo seems messed up. Even the bios its looking dead.
