SATA I change to SATA II on the fly

I have two 500 GB SATA drives with lots of media work and other stuff on them.

I have just found out that to run these in SATA II mode I must remove a little jumper.

If I do this (and I know the SATA controller is SATA II), will it affectr any oif the files or MFT or whatever NTFS uses?

Or can I just pull the jumper out and see some speed boost?

It will not affect the files on the disk but speed up the interface.

actually it'll probably have no noticeable performance difference on everyday apps - the bottleneck is the drive mechanics not the interface limit.

BUFF is correct SATA II claims speeds of up to 3gbps (correct me if im wrong) but drives can only transfer at around 50-60mbs.
