Gaming problem help plz!!!

A couple of weeks ago when i started up my computer a red screen came up and it said that my graphics card was not connected. I then exited the screen and loaded up my computer to find that the graphics card had uninstallsed itself. So i reinstalled the drivers and thought that everything would be fine because my desktop had went back to normal. But when i went to load up counter strike, my screen went black and then a sort of multi coloured pattern slowly spread across it. It has done this ever since and i don't know what to do to fix it, please help!

My gfx card is a radeon x800 256 mb.

Just to make sure - have you plugged a power connector into the card? ie a molex or floppy power connector??

because the red screen suggests you havent, or it has come loose.....

Hey, there is a power connector plugged into it and when i look at my diagnostic it registers the card so i dont think it has came loose. Thanks for replying.

Have you been overclocking the card at all?

No it's never been overcloked.

Does it happen from boot up?

Well i didnt think it was anything to do with that but my main ram stick did come loose around the same time and my comp wouldnt boot it came up with a cmos error but ive put it back in.

I meant the memory on the GPU....

unfortunately, yes. I once overclocked a vid card so much, half the ram disapeared and everything went pink..... it sorted itself out once i left the machine off for 24 hours though. Which was a releif, quite franky, especially as it wasnt my pc

He's in Cambridgeshire so we're safe I guess I once had a similar symptom when my agp card was loose. I got multi coloured small squares all over the screen while booting up. Maybe worth cleaning the connector and reseat the card? You said your main memory was loose around the same time so you must have moved your pc recently right?
