    Exclamation extra undeletable drive

i have recentley collected my free memory stick from college but only to find that it has an extra drive on it that shows up as a cd drive but i cannot get rid of it it keeps saying its read only or write protected and i need to get rid of it because it uses up 112 mb of my 512 mb memory for my work if anyone can helkp that would be great thanks

i dont know the make or model and i do believe it is write protected and has been set to read only

i am currently running both xp and vista and there has been no joy i dont think it has any partitions so bios settings is out the window so if anyone has any more advice for me pls let me know either reply to this post or email me

I take it you've had a go at formatting it.

    Re: extra undeletable drive

The card's controller may not allow the two areas to be formatted as one. You can format each one individually, but not necessarily be able to format the drive as a whole. Without seeing the device, it is impossible to say.

    Re: extra undeletable drive

What work have you got that needs 500 meg ?

Surely everyone at college must be having the same problem and mentioned it to the IT guys there?

if not , then your problem is about a Tenner away...
