    BSOD When Installing Lightscribe DVD

    Hi All,

    Yesterday I bought from Scan a Samsung SH-S203P/BEBN 20x DVD±R, 12x DVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, SATA,Lightscribe, Black, OEM inc Nero (LN21399).

When installing I get to my username/password entry and all ok there. Enter into Windows, just after Everest boots into the system tray I get a BSOD thats only on briefly and mentions something to do with IRQ then resets the PC and I get into a never ending cycle. Once removing the drive all runs ok.

I've tried removing all drives bar the boot drive and still get the error.

Any ideas? My PC spec is listed below. Thanks for any help able to give.

O/S : Windows Vista Home Premuim
CPU : AMD Athlon 4600 + (Overclocked each core to 2.5GHz)
    Mobo : Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe
    Memory : 4 x 512 MB Corsair CM2X512-5400C4
    PSU : 550w
HDD : Boot Drive - 160GB SATA Maxtor
    Storage - 320GB SATA WD
    Storage - 169GB IDE Maxtor
    CD/DVD : Generic CD-DVD RW

Windows XP Shut Down and Automatic Reboot Problems

That will tell you how to turn the restart off so you can get the full error. LEt us know what that is

What brand is that 550watt PSU? They are commonly the cause of the "IRC less or equal to" issue, if thats what it is

Will that work on Vista as well? Also its on the BSOD it reboots the PC after approx 5 to 10 secs. Not sure on the make of the PSU, was one that came with the case.

Re: BSOD When Installing Lightscribe DVD

Got it to finally work without any BSOD.

I had tried an BIOS update as LegacyOne suggested but that didnt help (but at least now can support newer AMD CPU's )

I tried moving both my SATA HDD into different slots and same with the Lightscribe. Then I noticed a 7th SATA port on the mobo which is control by the JMicron settings in the BIOS. I thought what have I got to lose?

I did as stated in another thread I changed the settings from ACHI to IDE and it works perfectly without any problems
