    ATI Catalyst 8.3 issue

So tonight i decide to install the new release of catalyst, im now thinking it was a bit of a mistake. Followed the usual rule of removing all ATI drivers etc from my system, rebooting and then installing the new driver.

However when i run the installer it brings up an error message: Internal failure - Error Number:0x80040707 , once i get past this i cannot install the driver whatsoever. I have looked this error up and have found some refernece to the error code but following the dtails it makes no difference.

If i do get past this error it then brings up an error: Unable to load ATICIM.dll , my next move has been to use driver cleaner to remove all traces of ATI drivers however even after doing so and rebooting the same problems occur, i basically need some assistance, if anyone has had a simlar problem and knows of a solution i would really appreciate it.

    cheers

I once had to do a system restore because of a failed driver error, don't remember what it was. Also depends on your OS as DC pro (free) is "Use at your own risk" with Vista as it is not compatiable, only the paid version is. I usaully use Drive Sweeper Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com ahd no problems as of yet.

    Re: ATI Catalyst 8.3 issue

i dont use system restore, it is an ugly program that f***'s up file structures and so it is turned off on my system. I'm using XP Pro, i may have solved the issue now by manually installing each individual driver rather than using their install package, fingers crossed and thanks for the replies

    Re: ATI Catalyst 8.3 issue

i sorted this problem out the following day, something to do with the reg settings and there being no string value for the desktop folder, supposedly a common problem, funny thing is i haven't been in the registry for a while so i reckon that the ATI uninstall utility must have removed that reg entry...

    Re: ATI Catalyst 8.3 issue

always a good idea to clean out and optimise the regisry from time to time, mate; maybe that is what caused the issue
