i want to build a computer for $1300.

does any one own a quad core computer that has succefully been overclock? what speed you overclock it to? can you tell me what you have in your pc and if it near my budget? i never overclock but alway wanted to know how. so if i buy mostly the same product that you got. would you be nice enough to teach me to overclock it like your over the phone? thank you

Re: i want to build a computer for $1300.

Welcome to the Forums Aznandy, you dont need to phone anyone, just read around and ask, you will get more than enough help just by posting.

1)Yes many members here own quad cores that have successfully been overclocked.
    2) A usual Q6600 is overclocked mostly to 3.2 - 3.4 by most users, some go to 3.6 even.
    3) You dont need to copy the whole system off someone, but yes you could do that too.

Dont you have anything planned? Where are you from? What do you want to use the system for?

Re: i want to build a computer for $1300.

thank for the advice. the reason for copying all there part and ask them to teach me over the phone is that i have read alot of article of how to overclock but don't really get it. i'm asian you know, i'm not really good at reading and understanding it.
i ask alot of place online but the answer is not exactly what i'm looking for. like i need it to be in a simple way so i can understand it. lol. i'm not really a gamer person. i do play some game though but mostly downloading movie online.
    thank you for responsing.

^Pretty much all you need to know.^

In terms of hardware all you need is a good stable motherboard, PC2-6400+ rated RAM and a decent aftermarket CPU cooler.

Re: i want to build a computer for $1300.

Good ol' Clunk's guide covers most bits, and in a fair amount of detail.

What I'd do is spec up a PC and then show it to the forum and they can suggest changes that you could make to save money or increase performance. Remember though this is a UK forum, so pricing/what you get for equivalent $ in £ would be different to what you may be able to get.

Best of luck anyway - its the challenge of getting there that is the fun part

Re: i want to build a computer for $1300.

Yes Aznandy it is okay, im an asian as well anyways, Nightshadow and Dave have given you good advice, but I want to know why do you want to overclock? When you dont game, just for downloading online movies? there is no point in doing that..

Plus yes, do spec a PC and let us know so we can make suggestions and help out Cheers and Best of luck!
