LG L226WTQ Problem, Please Help !

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and need any help or advice you can offer.

I'm running an Athlon dual core, Nvidia 7600 GT GFX card with dual DVI-I out and have just bought an LG 226 WTQ 22" DVI monitor. The graphics card is approx 2 months old and worked fine with my Dell 20" CRT via the vga adapter that came with the card.

I bought the LG screen from ebuyer around 6 weeks ago, from the word go it has behaved strangely.
The screen goes into "digital power saving mode" whenever it feels like it, usually it happens while I'm working, although the time it takes to happen can vary from 2 minutes to 2 hours, and the only way to get the screen back on is to reboot.
Occasionally the screensaver kicks in & on VERY rare occasions, after it goes into power saving mode, moving the mouse will wake the screen, but this is the exception to the rule.

I have disabled power saving on the desktop and in the bios, there are no options to do this on the OSD of the monitor.

I have also downloaded the latest drivers for both.

I have contacted LG & Nvidia customer support but they are useless and when they do bother to answer one of the many emails I have sent to them, they are about as much use as a chocolate radiator. LG even said that a DVI-D monitor was not compatible with a DVI-I graphics card.

Apart from this problem, the screen is superb.

Is there any way to eliminate the GFX card or screen?, does the PC, graphics card or screen actually put the screen into "digital power saving mode" and is there any way I can check if the screen and/or GFX card is faulty, or has anybody else had this problem and knows what I may of missed.

Sorry it's a bit long winded, but I've tried to give as much info as possible

    Many thanks in advance

    Spadders

You could try an analogue vga cable.Searching google about your monitor brings up the same problems your having.Any chance you could try another graphics card/monitor?

Try reseting the monitor to factory presets through the service menu.

-Turn off the screen, then hold the menu button and turn on the screen. When you see an image again, release the menu button and press it again.

Re: LG L226WTQ Problem, Please Help !

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies.

Kalniel : I've tried this, but it seems to have made no difference whatsoever, if anything, it seems to happening more frequently.

I haven't had time yet to try a different screen but I expect a CRT to work fine because it did before I bought the LG.
I will try the LG with a standard VGA cable via the adapter, and if possible on another PC to see what happens.

    Will keep you posted

    Thanks
