Is there any known issues with the gx2 and the abit

personally if it was me I would

strip everything out of the case

set it up on the bench/desk etc

cpu/hsf motherboard
1 stick of ram
graphics

attempt to get it to post

if no result, it would be test graphics in other machine and test other graphics card in problem setup

It really does sound like a dead motherboard.

unfortunatly yes, but it's always best to test your other components on a mates mobo (as shadowmaster says)

The motherboard should be beeping its head off when you started it with the bare minimums.

that was the plan, that and so xp made sounds if it did get past POST.

where abouts are you based?? cos if your near me you can test on one of my mobo's.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm not sure whether its the gfx card or the mobo which is faulty, but i contacted ocuk about my problem and they gave me a RMA number for the gfx card.
Today i'm gonna take my system to the local comp shop and ask the guy there to test my hardware with different parts to see what's faulty, from there I can decide what to RMA

okay the guy @ the shop found out that the mobo was faulty. I've managed to take everything out of the mobo except for the 24 pin atx power connectors, it's literally stuck in it (if i pull any harder i'll snap the mobo in 2). So what should i do about it?

you are pressing the tab on the side right???

cos the current from the PSU can't have reached 80A and welded the pins together. surely? it would have imploded by then.

Ok i managed to pry it open with a screwdriver (i thought the pins had melted and stuck together)

Anyway, where is it safe to put my cpu and ram while i wait for the rma, i was thinking about storing them in the anti static bag that came with my hdd

original packaging if you still have it... i usually put my cpu on foam to stop the pins bending (how they arrive oem encased in a lovely bed of foam , not sure if they use anticstatic foam or anything tho) and ram will be fine in an antistatic bag
as long as you don't sit on your processor or anything by mistake.... you'll be fine

I would also include the test report from the local pc shop, and good luck with your rma
