    DELL Latitude 510m cpu speed

I have been given a DELL Latitude 510m that was running XP home slow
I have done windows update checked for virus / melware
I have stopped junk and bloatware loading at startup
Now when i use cupz or windows properties i see the mobile M175 CPU runs at 597 Mhz or 298 Mhz in windows
I have installed sswitchxp152 – no change max cpu speed 597 Mhz
I have turned speedstep on and off in the bios with no change maz cpu speed 597 Mhz
Bios shows pentium m 1.5 Ghz / 600 Mhz CPU (1.5 Ghz with speedstep 0.6 Ghz without)
Changing power setting to “always on” gives cpu speed of 597 Mhz

All testing was done with prime running and AC power inserted

Any idea's how to get 1.5 Ghz? as i'm no expert on laptops/notebooks

Re: DELL Latitude 510m cpu speed

i know this is sorted but just a note, some of my laptops will turn its speedstep back on depending on your battery performance settings. so would be a good idea to check there too if you are having difficulties in future

Re: DELL Latitude 510m cpu speed

yes it did but the main problem in the end was with or without the AC in it booted to 597 then under load cut back to 238 instead of going up
i did try as "allways on" and "decktop" in the power settings but this made no difference
also when there was no AC the max it goes is 597 ( this is from the bios )

Re: DELL Latitude 510m cpu speed

I have the same problem, I changed the Celeron M350 (1.3 Ghz) to Pentium M 1.6 and doesn't matter what I do, the max speed is always 597Mhz could you please post how you solved it?

Re: DELL Latitude 510m cpu speed

The first time i updated the dell software to the latest revisions.
since then i have also found if you have a generic/none Dell PSU the battery will not charge and the speedstep defaults to the lowest setting ( like it would on battery only ! )
In the end i used a program SpeedswitchXP and set it to run @ startup
there was another program like SpeedswitchXP that i may have used as i installed both on the laptop (i dont have axx to the laptop i only see it if it needs repairing)

    This link may help

Hello! my computer is not Dell. But I solved the problem! Yeah!!
It's a Intel mb with via chipset, I solved the problem changing the bios setup to factory default. Even the bio doesn't have anything to config. But it works!
