oh yeah it does, try 1 stick at time as well. If you get errors with 1 stick up the voltage to 1.9 - 2.1 no more than that. Then try both on auto and then both on 1.9 - 2.1
Hope i got the voltages right, check the manual, mobo and ram.
Will do, cheers!
Might have to let this run over night.
woah, should not take that long. If you do have faulty memory it *usually* errors quite quickly. IIRC test 4 or 5 are the one's it's most likely to fail with.
I'm guessing you got the parts from OCUK?
It didn't take overnight to run, but I was really tired so I left it at about 40% and i think it did multiple passes.
No errors were shown so I'm doing the test again with everything set back to auto.
I might try switching back to one stick, but using only the one that I removed before. I guess if thats fine on it's own then there are no memory problems.
yeah, install vista with 1 stick of ram. Do the sp1 and other windows updates, then put the other stick in and see how you go.
Good luck!
Oh, no, as I said earlier, Vista is installed now. I did it with just 1 stick of RAM. But since then when I've tried to put the other stick of RAM back in I keep getting errors.
I've just replaced the stick that seems to work with the other one so I only had one stick in again and I still get errors. There must be something wrong with that one stick of RAM.
Going to have to send that back to ebuyer to be replaced then...
Oh apologies, was up a bit late
You could try the ram in different slots, not that that would make make any difference though.
I've resigned myself to the returns policy, unfortunately. There must be something wrong with it.
And just a few Bios settings that may help;
ACPI enabled - Also you may have ACPI 2.0 which i disabled
PnP aware Os yes or enabled
Pcie Spread spectrum - disabled
Cpu Spread spectrum - disabled
Intel speedstep - try enabled or disabled
It could just be you require a newer Bios, as stated by TAKTAK, manufacturers add more ram support usually with each bios update.
Wouldn't harm to check Asus support site http://support.asus.com/download/dow...5N-E%20SLI
I updated the BIOS before I even got vista working.
Thanks for the BIOS suggestions, I'll give them a try.
