    New secondary IDE hard drive

    Hello hexus!

I'm currently using Vista Home on a SATA hard drive and have just bought a 320 GB Seagate IDE hard-drive and want to set it up partly for extra storage and partly to create a partition for XP.

I've installed the HDD as the primary master IDE as I don't have any other IDE devices, I just have just SATA HDD and DVD drives. The new HDD appears in the BIOS and I have set it all to auto, and have tried setting the interface specifically to LBA as the Seagate website says, but when I load Vista up it doesn't appear in the Computer folder.

    Can anyone tell me why?

    Cheers.

Check in Disk Management, you need to partition and format the disk.

If it's new you also need to activate it, you can do this in Disk Management found in the control panel and then administrative tools.

Haha, just figured that out after I posted this...

    Thanks for the replies, though!
