Re: Problems with my new PC

Ok -UPDATE - I took it back to overclockers who had it for just under a week, They said the overclock wasn't set up correctly, they ran a 3d mark in store and my set up now achieves a score of approx 17.5k, which sounds about right from what you guys said.

HOWEVER, i turned on WoW when I got home, upped all the graphics settings to full. BAM crash!

Its getting beyond a joke now, they said they run all sorts of test while they had it with no crashes, they even played grid on it in store and it didnt crash (which they gave me free which I thought was generous)

I am in the process of re-installing WoW now, but reading the WoW forums it seems alot of people have this problem, I'm starting to think maybe its a game related problem ? I'm not really sure

Any1 got any more ideas ?

    /cry Rich

Re: Problems with my new PC

Unlucky you having this problem still. 17.5K isn't alot with a 4870X2 under your belt (or am I too optimistic?). What operating system are you running?

When you see the 3DMark scores post each bit seperately so we can see as a 4870X2 should still give you higher scores.

Have you tried downloading any other games (demos or free ones) and trying them out. Try GRID out or download 3DMark06 and give it a run on your pc. If it fails 3DMark then you know there's still a problem. Maybe a connection came loose when in transit so if you're allowed to push in all connectors well and then retry running WoW.

I have run 3d mark 3-4 times, this latest time it got a score of 16820 but i was running something in the background. I just dont understand why it will play GRID and run this program, yet it won't run measly World of Warcraft.

Re: Problems with my new PC

Might be software related then. What does WoW crash with? As in what error does it give if it gives one at all.

Re: Problems with my new PC

Are you using a wired or wireless connection? If it's wireless, and depending an which card it is, it could be related to: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...41115127&sid=1

Update: My vista 64 ultimate PC has been freezing up over the past few days every time I tried to transfer files between it and my XP server via remote desktop and ftp. I had tried everything I have come across when searching for "vista freeze when transferring files", and I had done numerous hardware tests, but none of them helped. Only when I read the thread I have posted above, did I try and update my wireless card drivers, which uses a Ralink chip. After rebooting my PC - tried it without rebooting and it kept on freezing up again - everything seems to be working fine now. So, if you are using a wireless card, I would strongly recommend updating the drivers, or try a different wireless card that has a different chip in it.
