OCZ 4gb ReaperX with an Abit IP35 Pro

I'm on my first build and i've been looking at all components for way too long now and keep chopping and changing my rig. I decided to start buying some parts would be the only way. RAM wise i was looking at corsair dominator XMS2 4gb kit with the cooling fan module for around £99 or so. Then i read a great review on 3D Game Man about the GEIL Black Evo One's with their heatspreader's and sinks etc. In the end i found, thanks to HotUKDeals, an immense deal on the OCZ 4GB ReaperX PC6400 800MHz. I decided to save money and buy them from PC World for £33.65. Most places still sell them for around £70-£90 so i thought they must be good and i read some great reviews that with tweaking the timings on a normal P35 Intel Chipset Mobo they could reach up to 1100 MHz.

I just wondered if anyone had any advice or useful insights into this RAM and if they really are good. I am also looking at getting an Abit IP35 Pro XE Mobo for it's price and overclocking reccomendations as a good board with bang for buck. Does anyone have this Mobo and the same RAM pairing.? Any problems? Anything would be helpful.

    Thanks

In general the Corsair works great with the P35 chipsets. I used several of our 4GB kits on an IP-35 PRO for several months of daily usage and it was flawless. I have not heard of any compatibility issues with the XE version.

If I understand your post you are buying the OCZ, is that correct?

Yes that's right. I was going for corsair but i hit some budget issues and had to cut costs so for £33 and 4GB OCZ reaperX i couldn't refuse.

OK, I'll move this topic then. This area is for supporting Corsair.

I personally would go for the Dominator RAM, however if you are on a budget reaper is good enough.

As far as value for money goes though i would still go for the Corsair. Its also smaller in the case which has to be a bonus

tomawest i completely agree with you, Corsair all the way. The Dominators look way too good and the stock performance must be great let alone overclocking them too.

Well theres that and the fact that if there is anything wrong it doesnt cost the earth to RMA like it does OCZ.

I also like the thought that a year ago the same dominator RAM was approx 500 quid. Always makes me happy.
