    Making my computer

Hello, I am planning on making my own computer, and wanted to know if these specs are any good. I want it for gaming, graphic editing and websites.

    Processor: Intel Q6600 Core2 Quad 2.4GHz Processr £ 134.99
    Motherboard: ASUS P5QL-EM £ 75.73
    RAM: OCZ 4GB (2x2048) £ 34.98
    Hard Drive: Seagate 500GB Barracuda £ 44.63
    Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1028MB £ 51.95
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 OEM PCI Soundcard £ 20.46
    DVD/CD ROM: LG GSA H55LBRL £ 13.78
Case: EV Galaxy Black £ 29.99
    Monitor: Hyundai ImageQuest N220W-A 22" £ 132.93
    USB Ports: Newlink 5 Port USB 2.0 £ 5.25

Is there anything else I need? Other then the operating system?
I may get 8GB RAM, two of the same ones... but that would be only if i needed it at a later stage.
Is the motherboard ok, or is there a better one for my needs? I need to get a better soiund card as I have 200W speakers and my friend said it would definitely be worth that littler bit extra

    Many thanks,
    Kaikora

    Power supply?

Does the case come with a 450W PSU (if it's the one I'm thinking of)?

I'd recommend getting a good brand name power supply, like Corsair. The last thing you want to cheap out on is the power supply.

    Re: Making my computer

-Don't get that case. You will regret it when it makes you bleed. Get an Antec 300 or an Akasa Zen if you are on a budget.
-You don't need a sound card. Onboard will do a good job for 95% of people.
-Graphics card is very crap. Get a 9800gt (~£75) or a 4850 (~£105). Look second hand for a 8800gt if you don't want to spend over £60. Remember at the mid-low end 1gb of video memory is not needed.
-Not sure about that motherboard. I would get a vanilla P5Q
-You need Vista x64 if you are going to have 4gb ram

dont really need ultimate, home premium should suffice, and I think he means that it is bad build quality so when you open it up your arms will be cut to ribbons.

    Re: Making my computer

If you can't afford to get the retail version of Vista home premium, get the OEM version. It costs maybe...£70 odd I think. But it is tied to your motherboard which means if you buy a new motherboard, you will need to buy a new version. If you don't plan on upgrading your motherboard anytime soon, I'd go for OEM. It's the exact same as retail except in doesn't come in the fancy box and there is no support from microsoft, not that it will make a difference, there is a wealth of information on the net, garauntee if hexus can't solve a problem, microsoft won't be able to either .

Also the retail is about 3 times more expensive so you could buy 3 oem versions before the retail starts to pay off
