Question Need help with aftermath of virus

Recently, I got a virus. Someone at Microsoft suggested I use superAntisypyware and i was successful in removing the virus. However, since then, my computer is not acting as it used to. I can no longer control my desktop. i can't change the background, it remains blue. Also, the recycle bin doesn't work when I drag something over it. In addition, my computer doesn't remember pathways when I'm attaching pictures. Finally, my computer is not recognizing my CD drive. When I put a CD in to load it onto iTunes (or just play it) My Computer doesn't show there is anything in the drive. There are 100 other little things that are wrong, but these are the biggies.

I've tried using registry cleanup software, I scan my computer every day, nothing seems to help. Plus, i can't get anyone at Microsoft to respond to me now.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,
    sunshine

    pasting my other post over:

Your best bet is to format and re-install windows, as there may be hidden damage that you cannot see, such as keyloggers or other nastys, so it is safer to re-install and start afresh.

Indeed, re-install is the way. Clean the MBR too whilst you're at it, just in case something's written to the boot sector.

yes, backup all of your user files, like pictures videos and things, as the disc is going to be wiped clean, and started afresh when you re-install

+1. I also recommend that after you have reinstalled windows, that you scan your previous files before you transfer them to the hd, just in case they contain any malware.

now if that had been carrotman asking , you'd all be lol ing and saying ooh noob

make sure when you reinstall that you have all your drivers to hand too
and before you do anything once youve reinstalled windows, install an anti virus programme and a malware programme like Nod or Kaspersky for the anti virus and malwarebytes for the malware programme , then scan the disc you saved your photos and other files before putting them on the system again

Re: Need help with aftermath of virus

Thank you for the help everyone! I can't save my files to a disc because my comptuer isn't recognizing my drive, but i can transfer it with a 1GB stick to another computer and test all my files there (the other computer is junk and just collects dust in our garage, so if it gets infected, thats okay).

wish me and my 6000 pictures good luck!
