    E5200 muliplier issue.

    Hi all.

    MOBO : Asrock 4CoreDual - SATA R2.0

Just popped an E5200 [ 2.5 Ghz 2MB ] and I find it's running with a muliplier of 6. Looking at PCwizard it says it has 12.5 x and 6x so I am figuring it may be some kind of power saver thing going on.

Looked in BIOS and cannot see any adjustment. Must be able to get this running at at least the stock speed of 2.5Ghz. Just not come across this before.

    Any help appreciated.

Yes this will be speedstep taking effect, when you are idling the pc, why do you need your full pc speed? It saves power. If you want it off then turn off Speedstep, i would reccomend leaving it on.

    Re: E5200 muliplier issue.

    Thanks Blaine for that.

Speedstep does'nt show in BIOS though. I did try and put some load on with SONAR and it stayed at the lower level. I would like the option to lock it to 12.5 should I need to. and having just got it I want to see CPUID show me the results of my mild clocking.

That's me off to find the Speedstep switch which I must of missed in BIOS.

Its either C1E, or EIST one or tother, if you aren't overclocking you might as well leave it on.

    Re: E5200 muliplier issue.

    Thanks for the feedback y'all.

I ended up popping the old CPU back in, a E2220 which does'nt have speedstep, because this mobo does'nt seem to have adjustment for speed step in it's BIOS. Maybe an upgrade to BIOs would have done it, but for the extra 1MB of cache and 100Ghz increase in clock speed...

I will be upgrading the board as I have a 9800GT and it's only PCI-E x 4. And I want some more SATA onboard. It served it's purpose as it had AGP and PCI-E so I could use the now dead X1650 AGP card I had.

Thanks again for all your posts to help me.
