Vista Cannot See wireless networks, but XP can

Hi guys,

I have 3 OS's installed. Vista and Windows 7 cannot see wireless networks, but when I log in to XP it is able to see and connect to networks.

I recently replaced the CMOS battery and also dismantled the PC for cleaning. After this the above symptoms came up.

Is this a driver issue? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled drivers to no avail.

dont think its drivers issue more vsta ,win 7 seeing only what they want to try running network manager again

I dunno. It might help if you tell us what network adapter you're using and what setup you're trying it with.

We've got a Belkin 54g wireless network card that we've never been able to get to work on my step-daughter's machine (it can never find the IP address of the Belkin router downstairs) ... and yet a USB Linksys 11Mbps wireless adapter works great on it.

Try checking your vista power option and check what is your wireless power setting?

It could be that XP is set to highest and Vista/Windows7 is set to the lowest which makes a huge difference.

I also have issue that Vista/Win7 will not connect to my University's WPA2-Enterprise encryption :S

Ive got a safecom 54g wireless card. It's just out of the blue really, everything was perfect until I dismantled my PC for cleaning. I also tried installing another WiFi card to no avail. It cannot be a driver issue surely, it must be something to do with the operating system config, im assuming.

I checked that too but its already set correctly.

Ive been playing around network manager and have'nt found anything to work on really.

probably a dumb question but have you turned "network discovery" on?

I dont think its discovery since you can't turn that on/off until youre connected to the network.

I've just resorted to a wired connection meanwhile. I'll try and sort this out and see if i get anywhere. thanks guys!
