Question Issue: iPod classic skipping tracks

    Hi guys

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, however quick query for you...

I have an 80Gb iPod Classic, I've had it for about 9 months now (so can still covered by warranty, but would prefer to try and sort this problem before going to apple). Everything has been fine with it for sometime, but all seems to have gone wrong since sync'ing a couple of weeks ago.

I was listening to one album and decided I wanted a change, so selected the next album. The first song played but then it went quite. I thought it strange so looked at the screen and it appears that each track was being skipped (NB at the time 'Hold' was on). I tried another album and none of the songs played.

I tried a soft reset (holding menu and play [if I remember correctly]) but this did not resolve the problem.
I also tried a restore within iTunes, but this kept failing.
Also I've cleared down all my songs, sync'd the iPod (which removed all songs etc) and did a reset, which seemed to have sorted the issue, but then it reappear when I used it properly next.

I've checked the albums and they are all playing property in both iTunes and Media Player (of course with the exception of any tracks brought from iTunes store before they released the songs as MP3's).

HAs anybody got any advise as to additional steps I could take to diagnose this issue? Or had this problem thereselves?

Re: Issue: iPod classic skipping tracks

This has happened to me when i've set early 'end' times within iTunes on tracks, however as you say, it should also cut short when playing in itunes too.
If you right click on one of the offending tracks within itunes, then select the 'options' tab, are any of the boxes ticked?

    Hi MSIC

Thanks for your help, I'm (sort of) glad i'm not the only one with this problem.

I've tried what you suggested but what 'Option' tab? I tried right clicking within 'Library'|'Music' and then an offending album and tracks, but no 'Option' tab was apparent within the context menu.

Or do you mean the list of tracks on the iPod?

Re: Issue: iPod classic skipping tracks

    Sorry, i mean:
Within itunes, right click on one of the particular tracks.
Select 'Get Info' from the menu list (it should be at the very top of the list).
Then select the 'options' tab in there.
