Packard Bell iMedia 1559 Wireless Problems

Plugged in a PCI wireless card that was acknowledged by the PC, but not as a wireless card.
XP Home seems not to have the driver software.
The card was taken out of my other PC using XP Pro and was working OK.

    Guidance appreciated.

    Thanks in anticipation

Because XP Home can't find a driver it doesn't know what type of PCI card it is.

If you download and install the drivers from the manufacturers website it will recognise the card as a wireless one and you'll be up and running. What is the name of the card itself? Who makes it?

Re: Packard Bell iMedia 1559 Wireless Problems

    Thank you s K

The name on the box NEWLink Wireless 11g 54 Mbps
I borrowed from my main PC to get this Packard Bell on line !!
Thought the PBell XP home would recognise it .
I am using my wife’s lap top now.
Can I down load drivers to this and burn a CD, or SD, to transfer the drivers to the Pbell?
Or do I have to find a driver CD?
    Thanks for help.

    No progres.

I have searched Packard Bell forum with difficulty as they seem to be closing down the forum. Not accepting new member registration, therefore no posting by newbies.
It seems I need a driver for the wireless card. But as I can’t use the PC on broad band I can’t down load anything.
My searching is with this lap top only.
If I find a CD download is it safe, or practical, to download it to the Lap Top burn the CD for use in the Packard Bell iMedia 1559?

    Comments appreciated

Ok, from reading up on some other forums someone uploaded the driver from their install CD to driverguide at: http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=921661

You'll need to register to get it, but its free. Just download it on your laptop and put it on a CD, USB stick, then stick it in your iMedia 1559 and install

    Thank you s_k

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Many thanks for the driver URL got it installed. Now using the P Bell PC.

Just a bit more cleaning up to do on it. Such as the original owner ID pops up. So I would like to look at that area. The dreaded registry I think!
Can you advise which forum I should post on to get advice on that ?

    Thanks again
