xbox 360 hdmi cable!

Not sure what the problem is really. For some reason playing gta4 with the hdmi cable looks a little worse than using the vga cable. Got a 22inch tv with a 1680 x 1050 resolution. I have looked in the xbox display settings but changing it from 1080p to 720p does not make any difference. Wehn using the hdmi cable it looks like there are more jaggeder edges, bit like playing a pc game with no anti-analyzing.

Any ideas??? Is it just the cable or I have not go it on the correct display setting for the xbox.

    Cheers

edit: Got the cable from play.com Product name- HDMI Cable for Xbox 360 & PS3

    Re: xbox 360 hdmi cable!

VGA gives a sharper picture at the expense of colour vibrancy, perhaps it is that you are noticing?

Well, it isn't VGA per-se, but the ability to set the resolution nearer to that of the native resolution of the screen/panel.

Haven't tried HDMI on mine, but I get a better picture on my TV with Component compared with VGA...

    Think you may be right!

Just plugged the vga cable back in and set the resolution on the tv to 1680 x 1050 but it now has a black banded border on the top, bottom and left of the screen. For soem reason it is not fitting the screen <very confused>

    Re: xbox 360 hdmi cable!

Yeah I had issue's with GTA IV with everything looking dark grey etc and hard to see at the night time parts on the new samsung 37" 1080p tv. Ended up boosting the contrast, brightness and saturation just to see everything :/ Although it could of been the HDMI cable as it was a cheap £20 philips thing from comet. Could be the TV to as I run the HDMI port for the xbox in Game Mode
