    System won't boot

Hi, First post and I'm something of a beginner...

Left my pc on desktop and came back to find it shut down. Won't start up despite everything I've tried.
Motherboard post code is 0.0 then when I press the power button I get 8.3. "ATX power supply ready" in the manual.
I have experienced major problems with this board after the system went to 'sleep' and it can be a devil to clear the cmos to get things going again, and after that the Lan always disappears.

Anyway, pretty sure I had sleep mode disabled.

This PSU shows an orange light and goes red when I press the power button then back to orange. The board makes a long beep quickly followed by a shorter beep and repeats this every 20-30 seconds or so.

Basically I'm not sure if my PSU is stuffed or the board is playing up again. Any advice greatly welcomed.

    Thanks

    Mark

    Re: System won't boot

Is this new behavior or old? If new what have you installed updated?

I personally would clear the cmos and try again, if nothing then remove all the components you can including harddisks etc just to see if it boots, if it does replace them one by one.

If sleep mode causes this then maybe check out the sleep mode setting in the bios if you get it up and running again.

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for the reply.
Sleep mode always caused problems with this board and Abit don't update the chipset or bios drivers regularly, you have to download from Nvidia.

Already tried to clear the cmos in all ways I know; battery removal, rear panel cmos switch, jumper switch, system and power reset buttons on the board itself. Have also unplugged the ATX cable, hard drives to no avail.

To be honest I'm totally sick of this motherboard. Although it's great when it works, there are too many problems ie you can't use windows hibernate or sleep modes and the Abit help section is basic to say the least. I may well build a new system. Having said that, it could still be the psu, but my comments about Abit and this board remain...

Gutted that I just got hooked on Dragon Age and I can't play it any more!
