Cant get system to boot from Disc

I am currently trying to format my drive, and doing the usual stuff. Ive tried 2 windows discs and checked the boot priority list which i have made the CD/DVD drive the 1st.

each time it boots it says "Boot from CD/DVD drive:" i hit any key and it just sits there for a few seconds then launches through and loads Windows as usual. The Drive is fine because ive listened to music and written a new disc with it in the last 24 hours.

Any ideas as what to do to resolve this issue?

In the BIOS you can try removing all other drives from the boot up list so it only contains the dvd/cd and make sure "try other devices" is disabled

Also unplug all drives execpt the dvd drive and HD you want to format.

Re: Cant get system to boot from Disc

I disabled all other drives in BIOS apart from the DVD drive. Didnt spot the "try other devices" option, so that was most probably still enabled. but still had no joy.

Also tried with my slave HDD unplugged and still had the same issue.

Re: Cant get system to boot from Disc

legacy USB support or USB keyboard need to be enabled in the BIOS, or just use a PS/2 keyboard for the 'any key'

    *originally said PCI keyboard

Not being funny, but what "any key" are you pressing? It sounds like it's not picking it up.

edit: what above poster said, lol

Re: Cant get system to boot from Disc

it doesnt matter which 'any key' AFAIK any, any key works, even the F keys. mashing the keyboard and pressing 30 keys down works, aswell as banging your head on it

i've not tried the G keys (custom macro keys) on my G11 keyboard yet, its something to do later though

Re: Cant get system to boot from Disc

Problem is the "press Any Key" prompt isnt being displayed. it just sits on the "Boot from CD/DVD:" for long time while the DVD drive starts whirring, for about 15 seconds then boots through to a normal start up.

Re: Cant get system to boot from Disc

Well, that looks like there might be something wrong with the drive and/or windows disc(s).
It doesn't look like it's loading the Windows disc question of whether to boot from it or not.

Compare your image to this random one I found:

The "Boot from CD :" prompt doesn't usually require a key press I think.
