Silent Case fan for Enermax PSU

I have an Enermax 620W PSU with a slightly noisy 12cm 3pin removable fan.

Is it OK if I place a silent fan with a rpm of say 1000 of 3pin to replace it?

    Will there be overheating?

maybe in a really hot room running it flat out, if it controls the rpm with heat then stick a fast fan in.

No, AFAIK Enermax fans use a proprietary speed control method and only fans supplied with the PSU will work. Not certain this applies to all models but it does to all the one's I've read reviews on.

No I meant only the fans supplied with the PSUs will work with them since they use a proprietary connection.

In fairness I would stay well away from modifying PSU's.

    Ok....

Replaced the AC Freezer with the Scythe Infinity and also put a AC F12 PWM fan on the Scythe and the CPU Cooler is now silent!

Put my AC Accelero S1 on the GTS 250 and have a Scythe fan blowing air towards it ( couldnt find zip ties ) .. used a Zalman fanmate 2 to reduce fan speed to 500rpm.

PSU - tried replacing with another fan but the circuit seems to have hardwired info - fan wont start until it is of a certain Amps. Have to replace PSU.
