Unhappy 1 Long Beep 3 Short Beeps

Got a slight problem regarding the above beep code. I rebuilt my system last week (everything new but case) and im getting the above beep code when i power down my pc then power it back up. If i turn the psu off at the back, leave it 10seconds and power it back up all works fine until the system is shut down.

Ive tried changing the display port of the gfx card, also reseated the ram. Im assuming there is an error with the gfx card or gfx card memory?

    System Spec:

    i5 Quad 750
    4gb dominator ram (2x2GB)
    Asus P7P55 LX
    Antec 550w PSU
    XFX GTX 260
    Western Digital 320GB HDD
    Soundblaster X-Fi extreme music

Re: 1 Long Beep 3 Short Beeps

I am also having trouble with a computer that won't start, in my research I discovered a guide on beep codes. Basically different bios manufacturers have different beep codes. According to ebuyer the bios manufacturer of you mobo is AMI or american megatrends, if you could confirm this it would be helpful, because AMI beep codes usually according to what I have read are short and don't have any long beeps. Therefore I am going to assume it is 4 beeps, according to this guide:
four beeps means that the motherboard timer is not working properly. A hardware failure with an expansion card or the motherboard itself could be the cause of this beep code.
Not terribly helpful I know. Have a look at that guide and google some beep code guides and establish that you mobo's bios is an AMI one.

    Hope this helps.

For AMI, it'd be a memory error.

Award, I think it's a graphics card error.

Re: 1 Long Beep 3 Short Beeps

On my Asus p5q board 1 long 3 short is no VGA detected. Seeing as you have an Asus also I would guess it would mean the same thing.
