Hi guys, bit of a issue here regarding my PC - Windows 7 hung while shutting down, so I pressed reset (maybe I should of waited longer) after that the PC doesn't boot.
windows boot manager is telling me: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
I get in to start up repair via windows 7 disc, but it can't repair it automatically.
This message: the file or directory C:\boot is corrupt. Use chkdsk.
chkdsk doesn't let me do much though as the volume is locked or unreadable.
I've tried BOOTREC /FIXMBR, BOOTREC /FIXBOOT, BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD, at the command promt, but this doesn't bring any joy either.
Worst comes to worst, I'm not bothered about the windows install, but I would love to get my personal folder off.
Is there any way I can copy my whole user folder on to an external drive?
and thanks for reading!
