How to update firmware on Samsung F3

My new samsung F3 is recognised in bios but doesnt show up in my computer, guessing its one of the models that needs updating due to 850 chipset.

I've found the required update on the samsung site, however it isnt clear how to do the update. How do I go about creating the bootable CD? spent 10 minutes trawling through google for bootdisks but can't figure out which is required.

    thanks in advance

ah ha, after much more google searches i found out that all I needed to do was iniatialise the drive using windows disk managemrnt, then format with NTFS.

Shows up fine now, but only 465gb space?

Re: How to update firmware on Samsung F3

The difference in th advertised size of the drive (500GB) and the real size (465GiB) is simply down to the way manufacturers list drive sizes.

They use the decimal based sizing standard (kb/MB/GB), showing 1,000 bytes as 1 kilobyte, 1,000,000 bytes as 1 megabyte and so on. This means that 1,000,000,000 bytes is advertised as 1 gigbyte.

In reality, the binary system used by computers means that 1 gigabyte is actually 1,073,724,841 bytes - making the advertised 500GB actually only 465.6GB in real terms. (500,000,000,000/1,073,724,841).

Basically, 465GB is as it should be.
