BIOS clock running fast every ~30 seconds

    Hi all,
Only just noticed an issue with my clock in Windows(XP64), it would run fast for 5 seconds, then stop briefly and then carry on.
I thought this was an issue with Windows for a while until I checked the BIOS clock.
The BIOS clock seems to run ever so slightly fast for approx 30 seconds, and then takes a moment to pause and re-adjust itself. It's so slight that you wouldn't notice to the naked eye but I timed it against a couple of stopwatches.

Firstly: Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Secondly: Does anyone know what might cause such an issue?

Thirdly: Would this have any affect on the rest of my system?

A lot of questions I know but the first is the one that's the priority!

    Thanks.

Re: BIOS clock running fast every ~30 seconds

Sorry for reviving a really old thread, but this issue is still occuring.
I tried replacing the BIOS battery with several new ones and updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Has anyone got any other advice?

    All help very much appreciated.

Does it lose/gain time aside from hopping about? If it's still accurate, it's probably just failing to update the output regularly, I've seen it a few times, on VCRs, alarm clocks, watches, etc. I'm not certain why it happens but I've not noticed any problems because of it. It is interesting though, I'll do a bit of research into it...

sadly, I've had this once.. and it was simple a faulty motherboard.

simple as that.. you do get rogue ones sometimes .

best bet is to take out the battery and set the pin to 0 for 5 mins then back to 1 and put battery backin to reset the BIOS back to how it should be
