    Omg £1500!

Right I have £1500 (including VAT costs) to build a new rig - use: multitasking and gaming :]

I made a previous thread about my build but people told me to wait for the new sandy bridge, however after seeing good reviews about them, I've decided to go for the new SB.

Anyways my question is: if you had this much amount of money what specs would you go for?

    I was thinking:
    Coolermaster Cosmos Pure Black V2
    1TB Western Digital Caviar Black
    Corsair Hydro Series H70
    120GB OCZ Vertex 2 3.5 SSD
    900W Enermax Modu 87+
    HP BD240i 8x Blu-Ray Reader
    Intel Core i7 2600K
    1280MB Asus GTX 570
    Asus Maximus IV Extreme
    8GB RAM 1600 DDR3

Can't really fault that tbh, looks like almost exactly what I'd get. The PSU is absolute quality, if slightly overpowered.

Personally I would swap the 3.5" ssd to 2.5", but that is only because I have laptops in the house and it will be a good path for it after I upgrade my main pc

    BTW: Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse/OS? or keeping existing?

Cheers nibbler. When you say "almost" what do you mean, what would you change?

Whats the difference between 3.5 and 2.5?

I would recommend getting the Antec HCG-900 if you're going to get a PSU at that wattage, it seems to be by far the best power supply up there at the moment; not to mention it's about half the price at a quick glance.

For reference the Enermax Modu87+ 700W got an 8 from jonnyGURU (the only place that does PSU reviews).

While the Antec HCG-900 got a 9.5; which is damn impressive from what I've seen on that site.

    Re: Omg £1500!

Aside from the affore mentioned power supply, the only thing i would change is the case and possibly go for an ATI GPU, but thats totally personal preference and wont have any great impact on final performance.

Also with that much power, I'd be looking at a better/bigger monitor to show it. 1920x1080 minimum.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

His 'my system' suggests he already has 1080p

Still worth suggesting a second monitor as 'multitasking' was stated as a requirement. I cant work properly without 2 monitors anymore!

Looks great , but I would've gone for a Lian Li case myself.

    I'm unashamedly biased though!

    Enjoy the system.

    Re: Omg £1500!

Your pc needs to look good as well as perform well, you need led fans and some cold cathode lights (I would reccommend blue coloured ones).
Also you need to get a fan controller and temperature display which will take up 2 drive bays.
    Enjoy your build.
