    Bios downgrade?

Been trying to OC my Q6600 (G0-Stepping) chip, which gets safely to 3ghz, but read online the mobo I have (GigaByte P35-S3G) resets the FSB multiplier back to normal with every reboot.

The way round this is downgrading from F5 to F3a (A beta version, that seems to work properly)

Since then GigaByte have had these upgrades on the bios:

    F3 Update CPU microcode
F4 Support Xpress BIOS Rescue function
    F5 Update CPU microcode(Support Intel Wolfdale/Yorkfield E0-stepping CPU)

Is it safe to downgrade? Will I need to re-install any software/hardware?

    Re: Bios downgrade?

It's safe to downgrade as long as your CPU isn't one of the ones listed in the Microcode update. If it is, it may fail to boot until you put in a lower CPU and reflash it to a higher BIOS.

Nothing will need reinstalling, just make sure you have the same settings in the BIOS (AHCI is the classic one) after you flash.
