I thought AOL now can be treated like any other ADSL connection -PPPoA ?

javalord, I've never used AOL, but I've read a fair few articles that suggest not.

for example linux pc's cannot connect to AOL because it is not a standard PPPoA connection.

I don't know much about it though in honesty

AOL's has now added support for router hardware. The AOL keyword to look for is 'Home Networking'.

AOL used to use their own horrid TCP/IP demon called "AOL Adapter" which might be why certain equipment does work well with their setup.
