User with limited account cannot save files in Word 2000

I set up a limited, password-protected account for my sister using XP Home. The problem she's having is that Word will only open files read-only, and will not allow saves or attribute changes.

I can't figure out how to change the permissions to allow saves. Can anyone help me figure this out without having to make her an administrator? Secondly, is there any way of recovering the lost file?

First of how have you limited her?

The lost file may exist in the temp directory - and will have a weird name. But its not guranteed to be there, especially if she doesnt have rights to anywhere.

What method did you use to limit her account - ie no permissions to write anything or wot?

A standard xp non admin user should be able to save at least to their own "My Documents" by default.

I just selected "Limited Account" from the setup options. Bear in mind that I'm using XP Home, so I know the security options aren't the same.

I searched for *.tmp but didn't get it.

The file was based in the shared folder, as previously she used someone else's login to create it.

Personally, I think it's gone, but I'm just trying to cover my own back here. TBH, computer novice doesn't even cut it. She doesn't know her way around a computer at all, but is afraid to ask for help, hence the problem.
