    huge ping while gaming

Hi, I dont really know if this is the place to ask this, maybe the game forum would be better, but since i need help i guessed this might b the right place... I'm big into gaming and used to play loads, but here at uni i'm on a shared connection through a router. its an NTL 750 line, and its split between three of us. If i try and play online i get in game pings of over 3000 (despite pinging 100ish to the server before entering), whether or not my housemates are d/ling, browsing or doing nothing, and i was wondering if anyone had tips as to whether or not there's any way round this. Cheers
    J

What equipment are you using to share the connection and have you setup either your PC in the DMZ zone or forwarded the relevant ports to your system.

I'd try admining the router and setting your IP as a static one so you can be in the DMZ all the time and therefore have "full access" as opposed to one behind the NAT on the router.

    Hope this helps

what game was it you was lagging in because if it was steam then that program is a royal pain and has about 2000 ports to be open for it to work
