    Re: School and minecraft system?

I re-purposed an old business desktop for my nephew to do exactly this.

    From memory it's a Dell OptiPlex 390 (G840 and 4Gb RAM). I added another 4Gb RAM and a passive Radeon HD6450 1Gb (Dell part number N1N66).

To get Minecraft to perform a little better, I installed Optifine and as long as he sticks to Vanilla MC I can't foresee any issues.

Edit: Just spotted the resolved tag - oops

Yeah, that happens. As DwU has already said, it should handle Minecraft. Whether it will do so acceptably to your daughter is anyone's guess though If you were starting from scratch it'd make sense to get something more powerful, but if you're reusing existing kit it's always worth giving it a go and seeing what happens. Worst case scenario it doesn't run MC well enough and you get to build her a new PC then reclaim the other kit for repurposing (htpc? microserver?)...

That cpu would make an awesome Minecraft server, my kids use an old Pentium G620 dual core with a port forward on the router to connect it to the Internet so they can play with friends.
