    Question Quick question please!

"If you use a router, make sure that your router forwards the required ports to your local IP!"

    How do I do that?...

    Thanks a lot!

Well in your admin page of the router you will have something called Port Forwarding. If you run a game server for example the game might run on port 28001 so in your port forwarding it will ask for a range of ports a start anf a finish. So for this example you could put in 28000 to 28001 to open a port or two for the server. Basically general apps you are most likely to use will not need the port forwarding. If you are running the likes of a bit torrent client they generally need the ports forward option and things like mirc if you wish to recieve files etc. If you look in your manual for the router there should be a page or two with diagrams showing you the basic steps for it.
