    NTLDR missing ???

    Hi,
I have just changed my motherboard for a nf7-s v2. Now when i try to install a fresh copy of windows i get the message "NTLDR is missing".

I cant seem to work out what it is.

My xp cd works on all my other pc's so its not that, everything is plugged in ok and my hdd has just been formatted.

    Thanks.

NTLDR is the bootloader - I think it just tells the computer what there is to boot. If you're booting from a CD, it shouldn't be looking for NTLDR - make sure that the computer is booting from the CD. It sounds like it is trying to boot off the hard drive.

When it boots up, does it actually say something along the lines of 'Booting from CD-ROM'?

I think it's not reading the CD properly. It is trying to read from it, hence the spinning, but fails, and so tries to boot from the HDD, which it can't do properly, because of the new mobo. NTLDR is the first stage of booting windows, and it will fail due to your new mobo.

Edit: Though I have no idea why your XP CD doesn't work...
